Nymphing Clinic
This session focuses on subsurface nymphing techniques, covering custom leader construction and rigging for various depths and conditions. Participants will practice specialized casts and mending techniques to achieve a natural drift, while learning single-hand Spey casts to manage weighted rigs and minimize tangles. Dry Fly Clinic
Centered on surface action, this clinic explores trout feeding behavior in the film and on the surface. Instruction includes matching the hatch through fly selection and rigging, with a heavy emphasis on presentation casts designed to maintain buoyancy and prevent fly drag. Cost per person: $300, class sized limited to 4 participants.
Smallmouth Bass Clinic
This clinic addresses the unique requirements for our most common warm-water species. Key topics include heavy-duty leader building for topwater poppers and subsurface patterns. On-the-water training focuses on casting with a mended line to optimize popper movement and maximize hook-up ratios.

Streamer Clinic
Designed for targeting aggressive fish, this session covers the transition to sink-tip lines, building leaders and fly selection. The curriculum focuses on the "active" side of fly fishing, teaching participants how to combine strips, mends, and varied drifts to trigger strikes.

Caddis Clinic
This specialized session bridges entomology and technique, beginning with an in-depth look at the caddis life cycle. Training includes specific rigging for different life stages and on-the-water practice of the unique specialty casts and presentations required to mimic caddis movement effectively.

Fish with Jay in Ontario
Join me at Hawk Lake Lodge between July 21 and August 2, 2025 for a guided fly fishing trip! A minimum of three days is recommended and a 5 night stay will enter you into a drawing for a new Orvis Recon 9’ 6wt courtesy of Hawk Lake Lodge.
Each guided trip will consist of one 6 - 8 hour trip, either in the morning (5am ish start) or evening (2 pm ish start), depending on conditions, on one of the many lakes surrounding Hawk Lake Lodge.
I can guide up to three anglers at a time. Depending on conditions we may be split between multiple boats.
Lodging includes all meals and must be booked directly through Hawk Lake Lodge, an award-winning and Orvis-endorsed fly fishing lodge featuring gourmet meals and top shelf libations. Lodging + meals at Hawk Lake Lodge $750/person/night.
Guiding rate with Jay is $600/day for up to three anglers.
Additional guides can be provided by the lodge at the cost of $325/day.
Travel costs are not included, and for most people, the best way to get to Hawk Lake Lodge is to fly into Winnipeg in Manitoba, rent a car, and drive three hours east into western Ontario.

2024 Hawk Lake Destination Trip
Hawk Lake Lodge is located in an incredible smallmouth and pike fishery, with the possibility of 6-pound smallies. At least one of us is catching a "lifetime fish." We hope you can join us! This is truly an incredible destination for trophy fish.
Cost: $3,850/person includes a shuttle from Winnipeg, five nights of lodging, four days of guiding, chef-prepared all inclusive meals, open bar with top shelf options, and local host (Jay).

2024 Bass Camp
This three-day event will take participants fly fishing for bass in western Massachusetts. The camp includes a half-day skills session, two full days of guiding, breakfasts, lunches, a branded solar hoodie and all gear and tackle.
